Image processing and 3D printing are both separate technologies that are expanding dramatically and have been applied individually in many fields. An interesting and fresh application of combining this pair could be by extracting features from images and producing a 3D print.
In this project, edge features from 2D images are extracted with NeuraBASE algorithm, which are then used in generating its print outlines. This process does not require manual editing of images to obtain edges. The automated conversion process allows it to easily take an input image, adapt the necessary parameters and convert to a 2D model, which is used for 3D print.
